Winterization

Winterization occurs after supercritical CO2 extraction and involves the use a solvent, like ethanol, to remove plant waxes (fats and lipids) from botanical concentrates. This process results in purer concentrates with increased potency. During winterization, the extract is dissolved in warm ethanol and then placed in a freezer for 24 to 48 hours. After that, it is filtered and purged of any ethanol.
